Rena Ware is a family business that was founded by my grandfather,
Fred Zylstra. As the trustee of the core principles and standards he
founded the Company on over 60 years ago, I believe that Rena Ware’s
vision “When you help others achieve their dreams, you will achieve
your dreams” is as valid today as it ever was. While preserving the
core values of Rena Ware, I am committed to advance Rena Ware
International to even greater achievement and success in its next 60
years, and beyond.
The story of Rena Ware began with the dream of one man. My
grandfather, Fred “Pop” Zylstra came from Holland to America to pursue
his American Dream. He believed in himself and his ability, and his
dream was to build a successful business that would offer others the
opportunity and the freedom to succeed on their own while enjoying the
support and resources of a larger organization.
He established Rena Ware in 1941 and located the international
headquarters in Seattle, Washington, USA, where it remains today. My
grandfather chose water-less cookware as the flagship product to
propel his business onward and upward. He believed that many people
would choose Rena Ware’s higher quality cookware over cheaper versions
that deteriorated rapidly and had to be replaced constantly. He built
the foundation for career stability and security in Rena Ware, and Pop
believed that if an individual developed a strong team member who
stood in front of him, another who stood in back of him, and two more,
one on either side, then that individual could not fall.
Rena Ware grew at a rapid rate because of the values the Rena Ware
Opportunity stood for and the overwhelming acceptance of our products
by customers around the world. Honesty, integrity, hard work,
persistence, determination, and pride were ingrained into the Rena
Ware business plan that formed the essence of the Rena Ware spirit.
Rena Ware grew nationally from coast to coast during the 1950’s, and
in the 1960’s, my father, Bill, led a global expansion drive that
included opening markets in Europe, Australia, South American, Central
America, and Asia. My father believed in people. He believed that Rena
Ware was first, a “people business” and second, a cookware business.
He knew that if Rena Ware gave an individual what he or she wanted and
needed, that individual would equally contribute toward the success of
the Company. Based on these principles, the Rena Ware opportunity
spread around the globe like wildfire.
Rena Ware prospered and grew during the 1970’s and 80’s, and in the
1990’s, I took over the reins of leadership. Like my father and
grandfather before me, I am committed to preserving the values and
principles that have served Rena Ware so well throughout the years,
with the same traditions of team spirit, honesty, and hard work. I
have taken on the challenge of leading Rena Ware in the 21 st century,
and Rena Ware International is poised on the brink of an exciting
future of explosive growth and prosperity. The Rena Ware story is a
