The History of Cell Tech
It's ironic that the catalyst for rediscovering
nature's perfect food actually started with junk food. The Kollmans
observed firsthand that elementary school children couldn't sit still,
and could hardly concentrate. As they puzzled over this decline in
concentration, they realized that junk food made up a large part of
the students' diets. The correlation between food and performance was
all too obvious, but a solution wasn't. And so the quest to find the
world's most nutritious food began. In 1974 the Kollmans conducted a
comprehensive computer search. The answer on the computer printout was
a simple word that would change the lives of many people: Algae.
They tried the labor-intensive, artificial method of
growing freshwater chlorella in the deserts of New Mexico. During
typical 15-hour workdays in the desert heat, the Kollmans learned an
enormous amount about algae. They became the students and algae became
their teacher. After years of experimentation growing varieties of
freshwater algae, the Kollmans discovered an exclusive source for the
most remarkable blue-green algae of all: Aphanizomenon flos-aquae.
They found it growing abundantly in a natural environment that proved
to be the richest producer of biomass on the planet: Upper Klamath
Lake in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The Kollmans began harvesting this
extraordinary Algae, named it Super Blue Green®, and Cell Tech was
born.
